Acrewise Farms is an early stage startup company working to revolutionize the economics of agribusiness in Kenya (a $30B/year industry with significantly higher potential margins than comparable operations in developed markets like the US.). We are working through the lens of our patent-pending, social impact model of job creation to launch a highly profitable, agribusiness pilot-project to grow and scale across Kenya and other key African markets. Our approach to poverty alleviation is grounded in a candid analysis of why traditional development models have produced only modest results despite decades of intervention.
We have assembled a highly experienced executive team, very senior international Advisory Board, have incorporated in both the US and Kenya, and most importantly we’ve raised $100,000 in non-dilutive capital, a demonstration of our personal commitment to this project. Our Advisory Board is composed of senior executives from the US, Canada, and Kenya including the co-founder of Earth Day, the CEO for the neobanking division of Branch International, a Senior Ashoka Fellow, and senior lawyers, corporate governance, business development, finance, operations, law, and strategy professionals. This is a chance for highly motivated Board/fundraising professionals to get in on the ground floor of a social enterprise agribusiness company with enormous scale potential.
Acrewise Farms has spent the last 12 months negotiating key partnerships, performing land assessments, bringing key team members aboard and now we’re officially ready to finish our Seed Series round of fundraising and incept operations. We are looking for seasoned executives who will either bring their own investment to the table, or those who can help us secure our next round of funding in collaboration with the executive team and key members of our Advisory Board. Our funding needs, while not insignificant, are very realistic for an African startup going through their Seed Series round.
Compensation is in the form of equity or commission, or a combination thereof (we’re negotiable), in exchange for capital raised. We are open to individuals anywhere in the world, what is critical is your ability to originate investor conversations efficiently (likely with Angels, VCs, Foundations, and Family Offices in the form of private equity).
We're open to both Advisory Board or BOD member scenarios in exchange for your successful work, as well as an opportunity to be part of an incredible team driving large scale financial inclusion in Africa. For BOD roles, a personal investment in Acrewise Farms is required.
Required Skills:
• Ability to recruit and manage investor relationships.
• General understanding of Advisory/ Board roles and responsibilities.
• Strong financial acumen – you don’t have to be a CFO, but you do need to understand the workings of typical investor relationships and benefits/weaknesses of various investment vehicles for a startup organization.
• Ability to wear multiple hats - being able to pivot from investor relations to long-term strategy development and capital deployment is critical.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 15 years of work experience, with at least 5 years executive experience. Exceptions can be made for individuals with well-developed investor networks.
• Previous experience successfully recruiting investors for early-stage, pre-revenue ventures.
• Previous experience as a BOD member, Advisory Board Member, or Private Equity Consultant strongly preferred.

As we are receiving a large number of responses, only highly qualified candidates will be shortlisted for further conversations. Women and candidates from diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
