The Billing Manager is responsible for leadership and oversight of billing and reporting systems. This includes leading and planning operations, contract and accounting policy compliance, reporting and analyzing revenue, as well as staff management and development. This position is responsible for designing, implementing, and enforcing policies and procedures, as well as streamlining billing processes. This position is highly visible internally and externally and requires a strong leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the billing team.

Positions in this function interact with customers gathering support data to ensure invoice accuracy and also work through specific billing discrepancies. Provide input to policies, systems, methods, and procedures for the effective management and control of the premium billing function. Educate customers regarding the availability of receiving invoices and remitting payments through online applications. Monitor outstanding balances and take appropriate actions to ensure clients pay as billed. Manage the preparation of invoices and complete reconciliation of billing with accounts receivables. May also include quality assurance and audit of billing activities. Note: Positions mainly responsible for more general A / R activities which do not include medical and ancillary premium billing activities can be found in the Accounts Receivable function in the Finance job family. *Employees in jobs labeled with ‘SCA’ must support a government Service Contract Act (SCA) agreement.

This position is full-time (40 hours/week) Monday – Friday. Employees are required to work our normal business hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime or weekends. Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

We offer weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule. Length of training will be dependent on the hires ability to ramp, no set timeline

Required Qualifications:
• Associate’s Degree in Finance or Accounting
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• 3 years of Progressive experience in working within a relevant Billing role OR related Professional role.
• 1 years of Leadership experience
• Experience in Government Contracting Billing
• Equivalent combination of education, experience, and / or applicable military experience
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Word
• Microsoft Excel
• Microsoft PowerPoint
• Microsoft Outlook (ability to create, edit, save, and send documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and correspondence) and integrated accounting systems
• Ability to work any 8-hour shift between the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM from Monday – Friday CST including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends based on business need

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience with contracts and various pricing formats
• National Career Readiness Certificate
• Deltek Costpoint system experience – accounting system

Telecommuting Requirements:
• Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
• Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
• Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

• Proven ability to design and successfully implement change initiatives,
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities while continuously meeting critical deadlines.

California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Washington or Rhode Island Residents Only: The salary range for this is $70,200 – $137,800 per year. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
