GEICO’s Corporate Communications team is seeking an experienced communications professional who will help lead DEI and Community Engagement Communications. This position will be empowered to take ownership of both internal and external communications efforts that highlight GEICO’s DEI and Community Engagement efforts. Reporting to the Director of Communication Strategy & Planning, the ideal… candidate has a passion for the subject matter and understands how to effectively communicate DEI initiatives and Community Engagement within a large corporate setting. This person thrives in a collaborative, dynamic environment and can adapt quickly to meet the needs of our stakeholders. In this role, the successful candidate will oversee multiple streams of work that span internal, external, executive and social media channels. Responsibilities Develop communications strategies and lead tactical execution of communications efforts that support and amplify both GEICO’s DEI and Community Engagement efforts among internal and external audiences. DEI Lead all aspects of DEI Communications with a focus on writing, editing and publishing compelling and relevant content using a variety of communication channels, such as email, intranet sites, newsletters, social media and executive communications. Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders and partners to curate creative, inclusive content across a range of internal and external communication channels and formats. Become a subject matter expert and partner closely with leadership across DEI teams, as well as marketing, legal and other communications stakeholders. Manage and provide ideas for DEI editorial calendars that also align to broader internal comms and DEI activations calendars. Serve as a strategic communications advisor to members of GEICO’s employee resource groups (ERGs). Monitor emerging global, national and local DEI issues and trends and provide counsel as needed to stakeholders based on a reputational risk assessment. Community Engagement Oversee the content and communications strategy for GEICO’s community engagement team. Create and develop internal communications materials, such as emails, signage, and intranet content that encourages employee participation in company-organized volunteer and community events. Partner with GEICO’s external communications team to identify proactive storytelling opportunities that highlight GEICO’s investment in the communities where we live and work. Partner with GEICO’s social media team to identify and recommend proactive content opportunities on GEICO’s brand channels. Prepare talking points and executive remarks, as needed, for internal and external events. Requirements GEICO seeks a creative, collaborative, and experienced corporate communications professional for this role. The successful candidate must have at least five years of relevant corporate communications experience and direct experience with DEI and philanthropy communications. 5-7+ years of experience in corporate communications (should include internal communications experience at a large company or organization). Strong written and verbal communications skills: the ability to take complex information and distill it into simple, consumable content and compelling stories for a variety of audiences. 2+ years of experience developing and executing strategic integrated communications plans to support company initiatives. Proficient in developing content using enterprise email platforms, SharePoint, and/or similar internal communications platforms and programs. Strong attention to detail, combined with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Proven time and project management skills with experience managing projects spanning across multiple stakeholders. Ability to balance independent work with team collaboration to drive projects forward. Ability to analyze data to inform communications recommendations. Experience using AP style.
