The Director, M&A Integration is a key member of a team of professionals leading Optum Health’s acquisition integration efforts nationally. The role is responsible for the successful initiation, execution, and monitoring of strategic acquisition integrations. The Integration Director may work on and support any integrations falling under the Optum Health umbrella, which could be primary/specialty care… behavioral care, home health, and more.

This role will be responsible for multiple cross-functional streams of work, identification, and resolution of program-level issues and the mitigation of risks where they pose a significant threat to success, always with a focus on delivering value to the business. It is highly collaborative across corporate and market-level functions. The ideal candidate will be a solid critical thinker, highly motivated, organized, process-oriented, and self-directed. They will have the ability to scale from a playbook but also have the ability to quickly mobilize process and project plans when playbooks don’t exist. This individual will have a successful track record of managing major strategic implementation initiatives and a solid understanding of healthcare business needs, managed care experience preferred. This position handles and manages confidential material relating to corporate decisions, structure, and significance. The Integration Director will report to the VP, M&A Integration, Optum Health.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Planning and execution of operational transitions of acquired MSOs, Physician Networks, Home Health, Behavioral Care and Medical Group businesses
• Manage relationships with senior business leads to ensure ongoing awareness, buy-in and shared ownership
• Ability to anticipate areas of difficulty/potential unknown risks, contribute towards creative solutions and moves to action quickly
• Bring a solid consulting skillset to bear in order to understand the landscape of an acquired business operation quickly, ask the right types of questions, and then articulate an integration path based on that understanding
• Oversee migration of newly acquired entities onto Optum’s technology stack
• Maneuvers through complex landscape of various business priorities to ensure thoughtful business integration decisions are being made with SME and Stakeholder assistance and collaboration
• Ability for occasional travel to locations throughout the United States to conduct business discovery, facilitate and manage key integration meetings. Travel requiring overnight stay and/or flights will be project dependent but may occur depending on the acquisition

Required Qualifications:
• 6+ years of experience in progressively senior management positions in healthcare operations and/or consulting
• Healthcare experience with care delivery
• Proven to communicate effectively verbally and in writing, with all levels of the organization
• Demonstrated program management, consulting and facilitation skills
• Demonstrated ability to successfully perform in a matrix accountability structure, reporting the progress of deliverables and project updates to a national leader
• Demonstrated executive presence and possess solid organizational acumen

Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions and business integration
• Expert with healthcare concepts and practices as it relates to MSOs and delegated functions in value-based care, employed and contracted providers and healthcare clinics

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Advanced knowledge and experience in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
• Executive level verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent communications, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to navigate highly complex, inter-connected, matrixed and/or decentralized organizations and successfully lead cross-functional teams
• Demonstrated ability to drive complex programs forward and “get stuff done”

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
