Job Summary
As an Assistant Teacher at Seneca Family of Agencies, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, social, and emotional development of students with special needs. You will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals, including Special Education Teachers, School Therapists, and Classroom Counselors, to design and deliver individualized instruction that meets the unique needs of each student. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement unit and lesson plans that provide an individualized academic program for students, taking into account their unique needs, interests, and learning styles
- Deliver instruction to small groups of students in classrooms, using a variety of teaching strategies and techniques to engage and motivate learners
- Support students individually in specific content or skill areas, providing targeted tutoring and feedback to help them achieve their academic goals
- Conduct assessments to support progress monitoring, instructional design, grouping, and lesson planning, using data to inform instruction and drive student growth
- Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and implement behavioral, clinical, therapeutic, and management techniques that support student success and well-being
- Substitute for the Special Education Teacher periodically, ensuring continuity of instruction and support for students
- Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians, providing updates on student progress and involving them in the educational process
- Intervene with students' behavioral programs, including physical management, using Seneca's Center's Ahimsa Model Training to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment
Essential Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field
- Emergency Substitute Teaching Credential
- Interest in enrolling in Seneca's embedded online special education credential program at Loyola Marymount University, funded by Seneca
- TB test clearance, fingerprints, and any other mandatory State/Federal licensing or certification requirements
- Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting youth with emotional or behavioral challenges, preferably in a school-based or classroom setting
- School-based or classroom-facing experience, with a strong understanding of instructional design and delivery
- Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and families from diverse backgrounds

- Strong knowledge of instructional design and delivery, with the ability to adapt to the needs of diverse learners
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues

Compensation, Perks, and Benefits
We offer a competitive salary range of $28.84 - $31.34 per hour, with actual salary dependent on creditable experience above the minimum qualifications for the role. You will also be eligible for a range of benefits, including:
