About the Role
The Executive Protection Manager will play a critical role in developing and implementing comprehensive security and logistical plans for domestic and international travel and appearances by senior executives and other high-profile individuals. This is a high-stakes position that requires exceptional judgment, discretion, and interpersonal skills to navigate complex security situations and build trust with our executives and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in law enforcement, executive protection, or a related field, with a proven track record of making high-stress decisions in fast-paced environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement complete security and logistical plans for domestic and international travel and appearances by senior executives and others, ensuring the safety and security of all individuals involved.
- Make critical decisions, without management consultation or approval, regarding the expeditious and safe resolution of security situations, directing others, including non-employees, and interfacing with law enforcement as needed.
- Analyze data from databases and evaluate the severity and nature of risk to senior executives and others, developing and implementing appropriate security responses to address these risks.
- Conduct complex advance protective services planning, risk assessments, and analysis, and liaise with business units to ensure confidentiality, access control, asset protection, and other security matters are adequately addressed.
- Coordinate security/logistical planning with other senior executive support staff, security personnel of other organizations, event planners, and law enforcement personnel, ensuring seamless execution of security plans.
- Monitor security systems and supervise response to alarm conditions, ensuring prompt and effective response to security incidents.
- Develop and implement crisis management plans for senior executives and others, ensuring that all stakeholders are prepared to respond to security incidents and emergencies.
- Develop and implement training for senior executives, senior executive support personnel, and Protective Services Specialists, ensuring that all individuals have the knowledge and skills needed to respond to security situations.
- Hire and manage consultants as necessary, ensuring that all external partners and vendors meet Amazon's high standards for security and professionalism.
- Interview, hire, and supervise Protective Services Specialists, building a high-performing team that is dedicated to delivering exceptional security services.
Essential Qualifications
- Position requires occasional business travel domestically and internationally for up to a week or more with little or no notice, requiring a valid passport and flexibility to adapt to changing travel schedules.
- Formal training in executive protection, plus 5+ years of experience in law enforcement, executive protection, or a related field, with a proven track record of success in high-stress environments.
- A valid and active driver's license, with the ability to operate a vehicle safely and efficiently.
- On-call availability 24/7, with the ability to work a non-traditional schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to support the security needs of our executives and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, or Security Management, with a strong academic record and a passion for security and risk management.
- Experience making high-stress decisions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with the ability to work with little to no supervision and make independent judgments with confidence and accuracy.
- Prior experience with a federal, state, or local law enforcement agency, with a strong understanding of law enforcement protocols and procedures.
- Experience developing and managing security plans for various sized events, with a proven track record of success in delivering secure and successful events.
- Executive protection experience, with a strong understanding of the principles and practices of executive protection and the ability to apply this knowledge in real-world situations.
- Ability to work as an individual and part of a complex team, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to build trust and rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
- Supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and manage high-performing teams and develop the skills and knowledge of team members.
- Investigative experience, with a strong understanding of investigative principles and practices and the ability to apply this knowledge in real-world situations.
- Broad-based security experience, with a strong understanding of security principles and practices and the ability to apply this knowledge in real-world situations.
- International travel/work experience and foreign language skills, with the ability to adapt to different cultures and environments and communicate effectively with stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to make independent judgments with little or no oversight, with a strong understanding of security protocols and procedures and the ability to apply this knowledge in real-world situations.
- Strong problem resolution and independent planning skills, with the ability to analyze complex security situations and develop effective solutions.
- Proven ability to apply sound judgment and use discretion when dealing with sensitive information, with a strong understanding of confidentiality and the ability to maintain confidentiality in all situations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels and build trust and rapport with executives and other high-profile individuals.
