Utah State University, a premier land-grant and space-grant institution, is seeking a highly motivated and innovative Assistant Librarian to join its team as an Online Learning Librarian. This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and service-oriented individual to provide leadership and support in the design, implementation, accessibility, and assessment of creative and inclusive e-learning materials. As a key member of the Merrill-Cazier Library team, the successful candidate will work closely with the statewide campus librarian and other stakeholders to support students across the system, fostering a culture of excellence, access, and inclusion.
The Online Learning Librarian will be responsible for participating in core public services functions, including teaching, learning, outreach, engagement, and instructional assessment. This role will facilitate the use of library instructional materials in the Course Management System (Canvas) and other online environments, ensuring a positive user experience and compliance with ADA guidelines and University standards. The successful candidate will also contribute to digital accessibility efforts, liaise with other campus offices, and oversee the maintenance of online materials in collaboration with teaching assistants and students.
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess an ALA-accredited MLS or equivalent degree by the start date. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, particularly the ability to explain complex concepts to a wide variety of users in individual and group settings. The successful candidate will also have knowledge of current trends and issues in pedagogy for e-learning and distance education, as well as instructional technologies to support classroom and remote or asynchronous instruction.
The successful candidate will possess strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, with a willingness to be flexible and experiment with new methods and technologies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to collaborate and maintain collegial working relationships with administrators, staff, and faculty. The ability to meet the university's requirements for tenure, including excellence in librarianship and effective scholarly output and service to the university and profession, is also required.

The salary for this role is $55,000, plus excellent benefits, including a 14.2% annual retirement contribution.
