Key Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring sessions to students in elementary through high school, focusing on math, English, science, social studies, library skills, and related subjects
- Assist students with homework and tutoring, developing customized learning plans to meet their individual needs and goals
- Provide instruction and guidance on the use of computers, the Internet, educational software, computer applications, and electronic resources
- Develop and implement engaging educational activities and programs to promote student learning and achievement
- Maintain a clean and organized learning environment, conducive to studying and learning
- Collaborate with other tutors and library staff to achieve departmental goals and objectives
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay up-to-date on best practices in tutoring and education
Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- High school graduate or equivalent required; completion or current enrollment in a university or college with a major in math, science, writing, social sciences, or human services preferred
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 required; experience with computers in a Windows environment or equivalent combination of experience and training preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, volunteers, and other employees
- Ability to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual skills in Spanish or Vietnamese highly preferred
- Digital media, graphic design, computer science, computer troubleshooting, and/or information technology skills preferred
- Experience with Microsoft applications, such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and the Internet
