Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Director of Data Science to lead our Global Data Strategy group within the Risk Finance department. This is a 100% remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere and create a schedule that suits your needs. As a Director of Data Science at blithequark, you will be responsible for developing and implementing data-driven solutions to drive business growth, improve forecasting, and enhance risk management. Your expertise in data science, analytics, and leadership will be essential in driving the success of our Risk Finance team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic analysis of credit metrics, credit provision, and reserve for Senior Management in Risk and Finance, providing actionable insights and recommendations
- Own and manage data assets and packages within Risk Finance, becoming a subject matter expert in relevant tools and technologies, and driving adoption across the team
- Develop and maintain standard and ad-hoc reports used by Risk Finance and business partners, providing credit-related analytical support and guidance
- Develop and present key analyses and recommendations to Senior Management, influencing business decisions and driving growth
- Build and maintain relationships across Risk Finance portfolio groups and with partners in Risk, Controllership, Tech, and other departments, fostering collaboration and driving results
- Provide decision-support with a strong emphasis on developing analytics that identify trends and opportunities in the portfolio, optimizing business and risk decisions
Essential Qualifications
- Advanced experience working with SQL/Hive, Power BI/Tableau, Python/R, VBA, and TM1, with a strong foundation in data analysis and interpretation
- Experience working with advanced levels of Excel and PowerPoint, with the ability to create compelling presentations and reports
- Experience in machine learning modeling is a plus, with a strong understanding of statistical concepts and techniques
- Solid financial and analytical skills, with the ability to work with large datasets and draw meaningful conclusions, empowering business partners to make informed decisions
- Superior attention to detail, alongside exemplary organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and work within tight timelines
- Must be results-driven and proactive, with a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills, showcasing the ability to build and maintain relationships and collaborate with team members to achieve goals
- Master's degree in advanced mathematics or statistical discipline required, with a strong academic foundation in data science and analytics
