About the Role: Part-Time Statistics Analyst I

We're seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Part-Time Statistics Analyst I to join our Details and Examination group within the Details and Data Gathering department. As a Statistics Analyst, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and intelligence of sports data across our platforms. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that drives the narrative behind the sports data, making sense of the numbers, and turning them into engaging stories.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and intelligence of sports data disseminated by the Details and Data team across various blithequark platforms.
• Work collaboratively in individual settings and in groups to deliver precise detailed breakdowns, clock-and-score, and other metrics and data in real-time that power a multitude of blithequark products and productions.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the Details and Data's role in fueling blithequark's digital products and television productions.
• Review the outcomes of your work and that of others, performing with a consistently high level of meticulousness.
• Contribute to productions, projects, and initiatives across the newsroom, and support newsroom leaders who are coordinating full- and part-time staff.
• Anticipate potential issues, both short-term and long-term, and propose likely solutions. Communicate swiftly and unequivocally with colleagues on these matters.
• Play a proactive role in collaborating with colleagues in developing or refining production processes.
• Be an active participant in team and office meetings.
• Seek and respond to feedback regarding personal performance.
• Stay informed about current office policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

To succeed in this role, you must possess:

• A working knowledge of teams, players, and the rules of various sports.
• Full schedule availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• The ability to quickly learn production processes that generate or maintain sports data that fuels blithequark's digital and television products.
• A capacity to achieve a high level of content accuracy in time-sensitive production circumstances.
• The ability to communicate confidently - both verbally and in writing - to production managers and peers about production issues and opportunities.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

While not mandatory, the following qualifications and skills are highly preferred:

• 1+ year of experience working in sports or statistics, ideally in media.
• Knowledge of how sports data is utilized in media and for research purposes.
• Working knowledge of blithequark products and productions.
• Experience with Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Experience leading or mentoring a team.
• The ability to speak and write in Spanish.
• Experience using social media in a business or news environment.

Education

Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Education: Professional education or equivalent.
