Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Thermoforming Lead Technician I to join our team in Franklin Park, IL. As a Thermoforming Lead Technician I, you will play a critical role in leading the operations of our production equipment and employees, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment. You will be responsible for overseeing the production operation of equipment, integrating continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring that all products meet our high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of personnel and equipment, correcting non-compliance and meeting or exceeding expected performance metrics, including safety and quality
- Establish process documents to set up machines based on parameters and identify root causes of problems, collaborating with multiple departments to make necessary corrections
- Oversee the production operation of equipment, including thermoforming, automation, and auxiliary equipment, and assist with set up of machines as needed
- Provide leadership with process start-up on the lines and follow procedures for daily, weekly machine inspection, preventive maintenance, and address issues with supervisory and maintenance staff
- Troubleshoot thermoforming machines, including TSL, and identify root causes of problems such as parts sticking, webs, splits, snaps, forming, angel hair, and poor trim
- Follow GMPs regarding food contact packaging and practice safe work habits, following all general safety procedures, such as Energy Isolation, Hazard Communication, PPE, and ensuring lockout procedures are strictly followed
Requirements and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
- Proven, effective leadership experience and strong communication and collaboration skills
- Experience working in a strong safety culture and availability to work any shift
- 2-4 years of experience in a manufacturing setting, with experience in the Thermoforming/Plastics industry preferred
- An Associate's degree in a related field, such as engineering or manufacturing technology
- Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization, including writing, speaking, and reading, and ability to use and understand simple mathematics, using addition, subtraction, fractions, and decimals
- Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus
