Job Summary:
We are looking for a talented and experienced educator to join our team as a Part-Time Instructor in Native American Studies. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality instruction, creating a supportive learning environment, and contributing to the development of our curriculum. Key Responsibilities:
- Teach assigned courses in Native American Studies, utilizing a variety of teaching methods and technologies to support student learning
- Create and maintain a quality learning environment that supports the diverse needs of our students
- Develop and implement curriculum that aligns with program and course outcomes
- Provide academic support and advising to students, including registration, advising, and graduation processes
- Participate in departmental meetings, in-service sessions, and other college events as required
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Native American Studies or a closely related field, such as interdisciplinary ethnic studies, women's studies, or American Studies
- Minimum of two semesters of college instructional experience in lower division Native American Studies (or closely related fields)
- Documented successful completion of college classroom teacher training
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching as instructor of record for survey courses in Native American Studies or closely related interdisciplinary fields
- Proficiency in the language of a tribal nation in New Mexico (Pueblo languages, Apache languages, or Diné Bizaad)
- Experience utilizing a variety of teaching methods, including lecture, collaborative learning, individualized instruction, and hybrid or online modes
- Experience teaching at institutions with diverse student populations or experience working in educational programs focused on marginalized communities
