Adams 12 Five Star Schools is seeking a dedicated and passionate Newcomer Classroom Assistant to join our team in Thornton, CO. As a Newcomer Classroom Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic success of our newcomer students by providing native language support and instructional assistance in the classroom. Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to provide native language support and instructional assistance to newcomer students in all subject areas
- Assist teachers in preparing materials, administering tests, and implementing instruction plans
- Provide supplemental interpreting and translation services for multilingual students and families
- Help newcomer students build a positive self-image and promote cultural awareness and sensitivity
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned, including lunchroom/playground duty
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- No experience required, but experience working with school-age children preferred
- Proficiency in English and a second language (such as Spanish or Dari/Pashto/Farsi) required
- Criminal background check required for hire
- First Aid certification preferred
