Position: Lead Staff, Fieldhouse Fitness Fieldhouse Fitness Lead Staff The Fieldhouse Fitness Lead Staff position is responsible for overseeing the weight room and fitness floor, customer service, promoting safety, cleanliness, and welcoming patrons. Minimum Qualifications: • 18 years of age or older. • Current CPR and First Aid, and AED certifications within four (4) weeks of hire. • Current Personal Trainer or Group Fitness Instructor certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, AFAA, NASM, USWFA, or equivalent. The successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background check, and subsequent mandatory background checks in accordance with current District policy requirements. Preferred but not required: • Knowledge of related sports and activities associated with the Fieldhouse. • Customer service experience. • Additional fitness specialties and certifications. • Previous experience in the fitness industry. Essential Functions: • Actively supervise the fitness floor and patron activity to ensure safe and appropriate equipment use. • Ensure patron adherence to safety standards, dress code, and department and facility policies. • Monitor equipment maintenance and report any issues or broken equipment in a timely manner. • Maintain awareness of daily schedules, programs, and facility usage. • Assist patrons with proper equipment use and general fitness guidance. • Ensure fitness areas and equipment are clean and organized into designated storage areas. • Complete required forms, reports, and documentation. • Participate in required trainings and staff meetings. • Assist with special events, programs, and additional duties as assigned. • Answer questions and maintain a positive experience for patrons. • Serve as a role model by upholding all Fieldhouse and District policies and procedures. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): • Knowledge of fitness principles, resistance training, and proper exercise techniques. • Knowledge of human anatomy, kinesiology, and training principles. • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. • Knowledge of facility equipment and safe operating procedures. • Knowledge of current fitness trends, equipment, and best practices. • Skill and ability to work independently with limited supervision or collaborate with a team. • Skill and ability to exhibit good problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and integrity; accept guidance willingly. • Skill and ability to work with the public in a fast-paced and challenging environment. • Skill and ability to recognize risks and implement appropriate safety procedures. • Skill and ability to prioritize tasks and maintain organization. • Skill and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. • Skill and ability to learn new activities and tasks; accept and adapt to change. • Skill and ability to demonstrate initiative and proactively complete assigned tasks. • Skill and ability to maintain a professional, safe, and inclusive environment at all times. • Working Conditions, Physical Requirements, and Aptitudes: • Duties primarily performed in a public setting, requiring constant interaction with a variety of people. • Exposure to frequent noises and interruptions. • Work effectively with crowds and uncooperative individuals during difficult situations, emergencies, or periods of continuous demand. • Work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays depending on department needs. • This position is ineligible for remote work. Essential duties cannot be completed without being physically present. Physical Requirements: • Equal or less than 25% | Focus on a computer screen. • Equal or less than 25% | Sitting. • Equal or less than 75% | Standing, walking, bending, and other physical exertion. • Equal or less than 50% | Pushing, pulling, and kneeling. • Equal or less than 75% | Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds unassisted.
