Last Mile Investments (the “Company”) is seeking to hire an experienced Accounting Manager, who thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth, team-based environment, to join our growing real estate investment platform. This role will be responsible for overseeing fund-level accounting, investor allocations, financial reporting, and administration across multiple private real estate investment vehicles. Candidates local to our Dallas, TX or Cincinnati, OH offices would be expected to spend time in the office, but Remote qualified candidates outside of our office area will be considered with the appropriate qualifications and experience.
The ideal candidate must have strong real estate accounting experience within a private equity real estate fund, institutional investment manager, family office, or fund administrator and possesses a strong understanding of partnership accounting, fair value accounting, investor capital activity, and complex ownership structures- including understanding waterfall models, promote calculations, investor basis accounting, and real estate investment structures. Candidates without real estate accounting experience will not be considered for this role.
The Accounting Manager would join the Finance and Accounting team, with responsibilities that include fund and property accounting and reporting, investor reporting, treasury management, and complex real estate accounting functions.
Last Mile Investments, an affiliate with North American Properties, is a real estate fund management platform that is currently investing capital on behalf of multiple investment vehicles, intending to acquire 20-30 retail assets annually. The Accounting Manager will work closely with accounting leadership, including the CFO, VP/Controller, asset management, investor relations, acquisitions, and external accounting partners. This position requires strong technical accounting skills, analytical thinking, leadership ability, and exceptional attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities

· Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for fund and property-level accounting.
· Review and analyze monthly property financial statements, reconciliations, and budget-to-actual reporting.
· Prepare metrics and aggregate data for inclusion in the quarterly investor newsletter, monthly delinquency summary, and other ad hoc reporting requests.
· Manage fund-level accounting including consolidations and the preparation of quarterly financial statements.
· Supervise both in-house and outsourced accounting personnel, including property accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and lease accounting.
· Maintain and review complex waterfall models and calculate sponsor promotes and preferred returns.
· Coordinate with investor relations and executive leadership to support quarterly reporting packages and investor communications.
· Support annual audits and tax preparation processes by coordinating with external auditors and tax advisors.
· Develop and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies as the Company continues to scale.

· Ad-hoc analysis, review, and support as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

· 5+ years of relevant accounting experience required, with significant real estate accounting experience strongly preferred.
· Prior experience within a private real estate fund, real estate investment firm, or institutional real estate platform preferred.
· BA/BS in Accounting from accredited four-year college or university.
· Strong understanding of waterfall structures, promote calculations, and investor allocations.
· Experience with investor basis accounting and complex ownership structures.
· Experience with real estate accounting systems and fund reporting platforms preferred.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
· Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Team oriented mindset with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.

· Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
