Key Responsibilities:
As the Privacy Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the Privacy Manager and EmpiRx Health’s privacy program by assisting with day-to-day privacy operations and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other privacy regulations. This role helps monitor privacy incidents, analyze privacy-related data, perform risk assessments, track trends in privacy risks, support privacy investigations, and assist in maintaining privacy policies and training programs. The Privacy Analyst collaborates with various departments to promote privacy awareness and protect patient information across the organization.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Privacy Program Operations:
• Assist in the rollout and management of HIPAA Privacy compliance initiatives, including awareness campaigns and training sessions related to protected health information (“PHI”), personally identifiable information (“PII”), incident reporting, and breach response.
• Monitor shared mailboxes, privacy inbox, and hotline systems for incoming privacy-related questions and requests, ensuring timely resolution or escalation to the Privacy Manager.
• Coordinate and process member/patient privacy rights requests (access, restriction, confidential communication, amendment, accounting of disclosures), ensuring requests are documented, tracked, and fulfilled within regulatory timeframes.
• Support investigations of privacy incidents and breaches by gathering documentation, coordinating with internal teams, and preparing summaries for review.
• Assist with various privacy-related projects, including but not limited to minimum necessary reviews and privacy risk assessments.
• Track federal, state, and local privacy laws and regulations, and provide summaries to the Privacy Manager for review. Ensure that applicable changes are documented and incorporated into operational processes.
• Assist in drafting and maintaining privacy policies, procedures, forms, and related documentation under the guidance of the Privacy Manager.
• Support vendor due-diligence activities related to data handling and privacy controls.
• Coordinate with other departments to collect information needed for privacy filings, responses, and applications.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for cross-departmental privacy initiatives and meetings.
Monitoring and Auditing:
• Support regular monitoring activities and internal/external audits to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws/regulations as well as company policies and procedures.
• Assist in preparing dashboards, trending reports, and metrics for leadership and committees.
• Document corrective actions and follow-up activities.
Administration:
• Assist with and execute assigned projects by their designated deadlines.
• Foster positive interdepartmental relationships and contribute to a collaborative team atmosphere.
• Maintain and update databases and tracking systems.
• Identify opportunities for process and quality improvement to mitigate organizational risks.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Legal Studies, Information Management, or a related field.
• 2+ years of experience in privacy compliance required, preferably in the PBM, pharmacy, or healthcare industry.
• 2+ years of experience monitoring and auditing required, preferably in the PBM, pharmacy, or healthcare industry.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
• Understanding of HIPAA Privacy Rule, HITECH, and state privacy laws.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Privacy Certification: Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified in Healthcare Privacy and Security (CHPS), or similar.
• Experience with incident management tools, ticketing systems, compliance platforms, or PHI workflows.
