The Epic Lumens Consultant is responsible for the design and implementation of the Epic Lumens application, collaborating with healthcare professionals to improve clinical workflows and ensure compliance.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, build, test, implement, and maintain Epic Lumens application functionality
- Analyze current-state workflows and recommend future-state solutions that improve operational efficiency and clinician satisfaction
- Gather and document business, clinical, and technical requirements from stakeholders
- Configure procedure records, documentation tools, SmartForms, preference lists, order sets, charge capture workflows, and reporting work queues
- Support endoscopy and gastroenterology scheduling, documentation, procedure tracking, and clinical workflows
- Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, anesthesia, surgery, revenue cycle, and operational teams to optimize integrated workflows
- Participate in Epic implementations, upgrades, new feature adoption, optimization initiatives, and application enhancements
- Develop and execute unit testing, integrated testing, regression testing, and User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Troubleshoot application issues and perform root cause analysis for production incidents
- Coordinate issue resolution with Epic Technical Services and third-party vendors
- Support integrated workflows with Radiant, OpTime, Cupid, Anesthesia, Resolute, Cadence, Prelude, MyChart, and other Epic applications
- Maintain application documentation, build standards, change control documentation, and workflow diagrams
- Provide go-live planning, activation support, command center coverage, and post-production stabilization
- Monitor system performance and recommend continuous improvement opportunities
- Assist with system governance, change management, and release management activities
- Provide end-user training, mentoring, and knowledge transfer to operational teams
- Participate in on-call support and after-hours maintenance as required
Skills
- Experience with Epic Lumens application design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and support
- Ability to analyze current-state workflows and recommend future-state solutions
- Experience gathering and documenting business, clinical, and technical requirements
- Knowledge of configuring procedure records, documentation tools, SmartForms, preference lists, order sets, charge capture workflows, and reporting work queues
- Experience supporting endoscopy and gastroenterology scheduling, documentation, procedure tracking, and clinical workflows
- Ability to collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, anesthesia, surgery, revenue cycle, and operational teams
- Experience participating in Epic implementations, upgrades, new feature adoption, optimization initiatives, and application enhancements
