Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Washington State University is seeking a Finance/Budget Manager for the Extension Community and Economic Development Program Unit. The role involves managing fiscal budgets, supporting faculty, and assisting in various operational aspects while ensuring effective communication and confidentiality.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage fiscal budgets at the Program, unit and faculty levels
- Assist the Director in all aspects of faculty support, including annual reviews, professionalization, operations, and promotion/tenure processes
- Communicating effectively at all levels of the University system
- Exercising independent judgment, decision-making, initiative and tact in performing all duties
- Maintaining strict confidentiality
- Provide fiscal management support, as needed for constituent elements of CED
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis
- Knowledge, skill and demonstrated ability in computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, or equivalents
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and procedures
- Experience in working with the Office of Research Support and Sponsored Program Services on grant applications and budget preparation and maintenance
- Experience supervising full and part-time employees
- Experience interpreting laws and regulations as they apply to intergovernmental contracts and research projects
- Workday experience
- Experience in Washington State University's (WSU) promotion/tenure process
- Experience and skill in preparing cost projections for grant applications
