The role involves establishing and leading a comprehensive HR function, building scalable HR operations, ensuring compliance, and enhancing the employee experience.
Responsibilities
- Build, implement, and continuously improve HR processes, procedures, and operational frameworks
- Develop scalable HR programs that support organizational growth and workforce expansion
- Create and maintain comprehensive HR documentation, policies, and standard operating procedures
- Establish best practices that enhance efficiency, consistency, and employee support
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations
- Develop and maintain HR policies, employee guidelines, and workplace practices
- Monitor regulatory changes and implement necessary policy and process updates
- Advise leadership on employment-related risks and recommended courses of action
- Support audit readiness and compliance documentation requirements
- Serve as the primary HR resource for employee relations matters and workplace concerns
- Provide guidance on employee issues while ensuring fair, consistent, and compliant resolutions
- Support managers and employees with performance management, workplace concerns, and policy interpretation
- Foster a positive employee experience through responsive and effective HR support
- Design and standardize onboarding programs to ensure a smooth employee experience
- Coordinate employment documentation, compliance requirements, and systems setup
- Manage employee separation processes and ensure proper documentation and compliance
- Continuously improve employee lifecycle processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
- Maintain HR systems and employee records with a strong focus on data accuracy and integrity
- Standardize documentation and recordkeeping processes
- Develop reporting mechanisms and workforce tracking tools
- Ensure secure and compliant management of sensitive employee information
- Develop, maintain, and update employee handbooks and HR policies
- Create process documentation, operational guides, and training materials
- Establish clear frameworks that support employee understanding and leadership decision-making
- Promote consistency across HR practices and workforce management processes
- Build foundational HR infrastructure to support future organizational growth
- Design repeatable and scalable processes that evolve with business needs
- Partner with leadership to support workforce planning and operational expansion
- Contribute to organizational effectiveness and long-term people strategies
Skills
- 5–8+ years of Human Resources experience with broad HR generalist responsibilities
- Strong experience supporting: HR Operations, Employee Relations, Employment Compliance, Policy Development, Workforce Administration
- Experience managing HR activities for a distributed or remote workforce
- Strong knowledge of: Federal Employment Laws, State Employment Regulations, HR Best Practices, Employee Lifecycle Management
- Experience implementing HR processes and operational frameworks from the ground up
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to explain complex HR and compliance topics clearly and effectively
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Experience supporting employees across multiple states and jurisdictions
- Background working in startup, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environments
- Experience building HR functions, policies, and infrastructure from inception
- Familiarity with HR technology platforms, HRIS systems, and workflow automation tools
- Experience leveraging AI-enabled tools to support HR operations, policy development, and research
