Good Sense Foods is a leading manufacturer of snacks and salad toppings, seeking a highly motivated, experienced Sales Director to develop growing brands at national/regional grocery retailers. The role involves achieving sales goals, developing customer-specific strategies, and collaborating with various departments to drive sales results.
Responsibilities
- Achieve or exceed annual sales & profit goals for assigned territory
- Build and sustain relationships with key current and prospective retailers/distributors at the headquarter level, with special emphasis on category management and buyers
- Develop annual customer plans designed to expand distribution and accelerate profit and growth. Proactively manage annual sales budgets and trade spending for all customers within assigned territory
- In partnership with Data & Marketing teams, develop presentations that outline current market conditions, market trends, customer needs and our competitive advantages. Utilize syndicated data to drive this content
- Work closely with Account Manager team, who assist with executional and administrative customer tasks
- Manage, educate, and motivate brokers while conveying brand and assortment objectives, key product attributes, merchandising strategies, and more. Some, but not all, of our customers have broker coverage
- Communicate solutions and feedback to Sales and Marketing leadership to provide the best products for retailer and category success
- Proactively share best practices and competitive insight across cross-functional teams (Marketing, Finance, Operations, etc.) to improve processes and maximize company effectiveness
- Provide monthly customer forecasts using information from data analysis, promotions, and budgets
- Manage and improve reporting/tracking tools in conjunction with Sales and Finance
- Attend 3-5 annual trade shows to represent our brands and foster new business
- Maintain strong organization of customers and projects in CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software
Skills
- Bachelor's Degree
- 5+ years of experience in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) Sales, Category Management or Broker roles
- Skilled in growing sales through existing customer relationships and hunting new ones
- Self-starter in an autonomous environment
- Detail-oriented
- Strong presentation, communication, and leadership skills
- Position is remote-eligible but must be willing to travel to customer meetings as needed
- Proven track record in Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) sales
- Experience working with West Coast based retailers like Albertsons/Safeway, Sprouts, Winco, and Raley's along with other large national retailers like Target, Whole Foods, and HEB
