The Sales Manager will oversee the development and direction of profitable sales within a specified region, managing a team of sales professionals and implementing corporate initiatives to grow the customer base.
Responsibilities
- Develop a team of high performers who grow business through new account acquisition and expanding share of wallet
- Implement sales and marketing strategies which will contribute to achieving the Territory and Regional objectives
- Conduct sales meetings, trainings, and account/pipeline reviews on a regular basis with sales group
- Set appropriate performance objectives for team members and hold them accountable for achieving these
- Identify opportunities and present solutions offered by the organization that meet the customer’s needs
- Create a personal network and represent the organization at business sector events to enhance the company brand
- Work with organization to ensure team members maintain up-to-date customer and inventory data in the CRM and identify and resolve issues in a timely manner
- Manage and report on team performance, assets (inventory) and budget execution
- Partner with the Credit Manager to ensure accounts receivable are kept current
- Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization’s policies and procedures to ensure the team’s and own work adheres to required standards
- May be requested to perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Must have strong leadership and management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment
- Excellent verbal, written, people and diplomacy skills required
- Good interpersonal and conflict management skills required
- 30% travel required
- Experience managing a team of 5-10 direct reports
- 1-3 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent
- 3-5 years of related job experience
- Bachelor's Degree
- Experience and knowledge in Packaging
- Territory sales or account management experience
- Strong understanding or experience from a large, national or decentralized distribution organization
- Experience with Salesforce.com or other CRM
