This role is based in Croatia, with our offices located in Zagreb. We follow a hybrid working model, including occasional travel to the office.

While our Croatian office operates primarily in Croatian, we collaborate with multinational clients. Datatonic is an English-speaking company, so we are looking for candidates fluent in English, both written and spoken, as it is our main language of communication.

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data warehousing and integrations, proficiency in Python or Java programming, and experience with version control systems like Git. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, developing and optimising data platforms, and ensuring efficient data processing and storage solutions.

• Data Platform Design & Development: Design and develop robust, scalable data platform solutions to meet business needs.

• Data Processing Optimisation: Develop and optimise data processing workflows to ensure efficiency and reliability.

• Cross-Team Collaboration: Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other engineers to fulfill data requirements.

• Governance & Security Implementation: Apply data governance policies and maintain security best practices.

• Performance Monitoring & Improvement: Continuously monitor and enhance the performance and reliability of data pipelines.

• Professional Experience: Minimum of 5 years in data warehousing, integrations, or related roles.

• Programming Skills: Strong proficiency in Python or Java programming languages.

• DevOps Knowledge: Familiarity with DevOps processes and practices.

• Language Proficiency: Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

• Cloud Platforms: Experience working with cloud environments like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

• Modern Data Stack: Knowledge of tools and frameworks used in the modern data ecosystem.

• Big Data Technologies: Experience with Hadoop, Spark, or similar big data platforms.

• Data Mesh & Decentralisation: Understanding of data mesh principles and decentralised data systems.

• Infrastructure as Code: Hands-on experience with Terraform, Pulumi, or similar IaC tools.

• Automation & Scripting: Experience with bash scripting and automation workflows.

• Message Brokers: Familiarity with Kafka, Google PubSub, Azure EventHubs, or equivalent technologies.

• Real-Time Data Processing: Experience designing or working with real-time streaming data solutions.

• Data Governance Tools: Knowledge of data governance frameworks and tools.

• Containerisation & Orchestration: Experience with Docker and Kubernetes container technologies.
