Position… Responsibilities As a Senior Staff Engineer, you will: 路 Focus on multiple areas, partnering with a range of engineering teams and provide technical and thought leadership to the enterprise聽 路 Collaborate across engineering organizations, team members, customers, and senior leadership to solve our toughest problems 路 Identify areas of improvement within GEICO聮s software stack, and develop and execute technical software development strategy for those domains 路 Accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of solutions聽 路 Be a role model and mentor, helping to coach and strengthen the technical expertise and know-how of our engineering and product community聽 路 Play an active role in guiding GEICO聮s architecture reviews and engineering transformation聽 路 Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams聽 路 Analyze cost and forecast, incorporating them into business plans聽 路 Determine and support resource requirements, evaluate operational processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, demonstrate adaptability and sponsor continuous learning聽 路 Be willing to take on-call and operation support聽 路 Utilize programming languages like Python, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and services聽 路 Influence and educate leadership at all levels聽 Qualifications 路 Deep hands-on experience in complex system design and data pipeline and architectures, scale and performance, tuning, with good knowledge on Docker and Kubernetes聽 路 Fluency and specialization with at least two modern languages such as Java, Python or C# including object-oriented design 路 Understand open-source databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc., as well as No-SQL databases like ONgDB, Cassandra, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, etc. 路 Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production聽 路 Experience with continuous delivery (CI/CD) and Infrastructure as Code聽 路 In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms聽 路 Knowledge in big data and streaming data pipeline architecture (Lambda/Kafka) and K8s clusters聽 路 Experience in open-source tools like GIT/Jenkin/CircleCI, and knowledge in Terraform/Ansible is a plus聽 路 Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, test automation and related tools, operations, real-time communication)聽 路 Knowledge in ML and AI technologies聽聽 路 Knowledge on monitoring software such as Grafana and Prometheus, and conducting performance assessments 路 Exemplary ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap聽 路 Track-record of publications history in credible conferences and journals聽 路 Experience with micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIs聽 路 Experience building the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems聽 路 Fluency in DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture, and Azure DevOps Operational Framework聽 路 In depth knowledge of Datacenter structure, capabilities, and offerings, including the Azure platform, and its native services including the Azure platform and its native services聽 路 Highly proficient in architecture assessment and proposals 路 Experience solving analytical problems with quantitative approaches聽 路 Willing to work on both fast development and operation environment聽聽 路 Excellent communication skills 聳 needs to be able to lead projects from the front and interact with clients and sponsors on a regular basis聽聽 路 Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment聽 聽 Experience 路 10+ years of professional experience in software development, platform architecture, administration, governance, infrastructure management, installation, and maintenance of the hardware, software, and network systems 路 8+ years of experience with architecture and design 路 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks 路 4+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or hybrid cloud Education 路 Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience Annual Salary $120,000.00 – $261,500.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate. Factors include, but are not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the role, the selected candidate聮s work experience, education and training, the work location as well as market and business considerations.
