We work closely with engineering and product management teams to design and develop industry-leading products that deliver value to our users and Google's businesses. As a Senior UX Engineer, you'll be an integral part of this team, helping to bridge the gap between UX best practices and production execution.
Key Responsibilities
- Meet multiple project demands simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and managing your workload effectively.
- Collaborate with UX designers and researchers to inform, integrate, and refine design decisions, ensuring that user needs are met and product goals are achieved.
- Work closely with other engineers on detailed execution and polish, ensuring high-quality, performant, and accessible solutions.
- Ensure high accessibility standards are met, implementing best practices and staying up-to-date with the latest accessibility guidelines and technologies.
- Mentor and guide early-career UX designers and peers, sharing your expertise and experience to help them grow and develop in their roles.
Essential Qualifications
To be considered for this role, you must have:
- A four-year degree in Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least 4 years of experience with front-end development, specialized UX design, or prototyping, with a strong understanding of user-centered design principles.
- Proficiency in JavaScript or TypeScript development, with experience working with modern libraries and frameworks.
- Experience with HTML and CSS, including responsive, flexible, and performant web development.
Preferred Qualifications
To stand out as a strong candidate, you'll ideally have:
- 4+ years of experience creating responsive, flexible, and performant websites and applications, with a strong focus on user experience and usability.
- Experience as a front-end designer, UX Specialist, creative or design technologist, or in a prototyping design environment, with a deep understanding of design principles and human-computer interaction.
- Proficiency in ES2015+ or TypeScript and modern libraries/frameworks (e.g., Hub, Lit, React, Angular), with a strong understanding of their ecosystems and best practices.
- Experience with vector and motion graphics, including SVG, HTML5 Canvas, and animation using JavaScript and CSS (e.g., GreenSock, d3, ProcessingJS, and Web Animation API).
- Experience in at least one of the following programming languages: Swift, Kotlin, Dart, Python, Ruby, Java, or C++.
