What you’ll be doing…
Toms Guide is seeking an experienced writer to help lead our daily coverage and analysis of AI, as well as assisting with the output of the wider Computing channel. This role will entail writing news and features on the latest AI developments, producing features and opinions on the myriad of consumer-facing AI features emerging each week across desktop and mobile as well as reviewing the latest consumer-facing AI tools each month. In addition, you will be maintaining and regularly updating critical buying… guides and evergreen hubs as well as authoring tutorial content to help our readers find the best solutions for their needs.
This role can also entail on-camera work as we look to include more AI-related content on our popular YouTube and TikTok channels. Finally, there will be the option to attend events and briefings for new products as well as conduct interviews with thought leaders in the AI space. The overall aim of this position is to work with the AI editor to help keep Toms Guide as one of the top destinations for authoritative and useful coverage of AI on the web. Key responsibilities:
Creating engaging and relevant AI-related content across the Toms Guide site for an international audience of engaged readers.
Reviewing and editing AI products, with a focus on consumer tools around chatbot testing and image and video generation.
Maintaining key buying guides and hubs on AI topics such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Apple Intelligence and Microsoft CoPilot.
Writing news, reviews and feature content on wider computing products as needed.
Brainstorming thoughtful AI analysis and opinion coverage to help Toms Guide stand out.
Assisting with deals coverage, especially during critical shopping seasons such as Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day.
Tracking the performance of Toms Guides AI coverage and working with the UK-based AI editor to respond to traffic trends as they happen.
Experience that will put you ahead of the curve…
At least 2 years of experience at an online media outlet
A desire to develop and grow AI content audience using innovative ideas and keeping abreast of industry developments and trends
Experience researching SEO trends and analyzing traffic
Proven ability to collaborate in cross-functional teams
Excellent communication skills
Strong industry contacts are a major plus
Experience promoting stories via cross-linking and social media
