Working Title: Textbook Center Assistant/College Store Assistant (9 Temporary, Part-Time Positions) Institution: Minneapolis Community and Technical College Classification Title: Office Specialist Bargaining Unit / Union: 206: AFSCME – Clerical and Office City: Minneapolis FLSA: Non Job Exempt Full Time … Part Time: Part time Employment Condition: Classified – Temporary (Fixed Term) Salary Range: $18.33 – $25.73 Job Description The Minneapolis College Store and Textbook Center is seeking nine (9) temporary, part-time Textbook Center Assistant/College Store Assistant positions to provide the following assistance: textbook center, in-store. Under general supervision and procedural control, assistants provide customer service to Minneapolis College Store and Textbook Center customers on matters relating to e-commerce and in-store sales. Assistants may also assist with shipping and receiving of merchandise for the Store. These positions also provide assistance to Store staff with day to day operations during peak periods. These positions also provide clerical services necessary to perform general office tasks in support of Store operations. Minimum Qualifications Ability to communicate effectively with customers and understand information. All assistants must have the ability to use customer service skills in person, on the phone and online to provide effective general and specialized office support with courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem solving, empathy, and to organize ideas logically. All assistants need math skills sufficient to perform simple math functions and make change. All assistants must have computer and technology skills sufficient to process online and POS orders. Store assistants need clerical ability and technical skills necessary to carry out cashiering function and control the change and return of funds. Demonstrate an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency, incorporate culturally responsive practices, and actively engage in antiracism professional development learning opportunities. Physical Requirements All assistants must have the ability to stand for up to 50% of the day (up to 80% for shipping/receiving clerks) with frequent bending, lifting, maneuvering of carts and hampers. All assistants must have the ability to lift/move materials weighing 15 – 50 lbs. on a daily basis. Other Requirement Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position. Work Shift Nine (9) positions with the start dates within late July to mid August, 2024. More information below: Textbook Center Assistant (6 positions): Mondays – Fridays, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (37.5 hours per work week) College Store Assistant (3 positions): Mondays – Thursdays, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. and Fridays 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (36 hours per work week) Pay Range Office Specialist: $20.02 – $23.76 hourly / $41,802 – $49,611 annually.
