Responsibilities
The SLC Economics Coordinator assists the director and/or assistant director in the administration of the SLC Economics Program, from managing the daily operations of the program to supervising a tutorial staff of 15-20 undergraduate students.
- Deliver established academic support services in Economics, from drop-in tutoring to study group/exam review facilitation.
- Assist with supervision and training of peer tutorial staff of 15-20 undergraduates tutors.
- Assist with the coordination of daily program operations, from user outreach to data collection to website maintenance.
- Maintains knowledge of course and departmental curricula at UC Berkeley.
- Mentors undergraduates to enhance disciplinary and professional trajectories. Support students with academic interests and professional goals in Economics.
- Serve students in navigating the critical transition points in gateway courses into the Economics; specifically attend to the demands and expectations of the discipline.
- Establish and maintains partnerships with organization departments and units.
- Serve on Center-wide committees to support the overall administrative needs and mission of the Center.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of multiple learning styles, affective, socio-cultural and linguistic issues as they apply to academic support.
- Knowledge of how learning skills issues apply to a research institution.
- Knowledge of strategies in critical thinking, reading, writing, note taking, test taking, time management, and goal setting.
- Skills in judgment and decision-making.
- Problem solving skills.
- Knowledge of the learning demands of the research university.
- Knowledge of current and theoretical models that influence the application and delivery of academic services (e.g., discipline-specific; student-population specific).
- Multicultural competencies; knowledge and experience working and interacting effectively with diverse groups of staff, faculty, and student populations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; interpersonal and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate information in small and large group settings.
- Proficient computer skills including databases, word processing, spreadsheets, and web-based systems (such as Google Workspace for Education, etc.)
- Basic graphic design skills for program promotion purposes.
Education and Training
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training.

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $58,576 - $80,437
