Job Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Paraprofessional - Special Education to join our team of dedicated educators. As a Paraprofessional, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of education curriculum and providing general and personal assistance to special education students. Key Responsibilities

Assist teachers with students with special needs in a classroom setting, supporting related service activities and goals
Prepare classroom materials for upcoming products and activities, and monitor and reinforce student behavior and performance
Instruct students and develop skills, assisting in preparing lesson plans and IEPs
Establish positive strategies to promote cross-reference learning, and maintain records of attendance, communication with parents, and student files
Assist students in a group and one-on-one basis, scheduling conferences and meetings, and attending workshops and meetings when appropriate
Support teachers with making copies, filing paperwork, tutoring students, and grading homework and tests
Organize materials and classroom for daily teaching, monitoring students before and after school and during lunch
Assist students with mobility, monitoring and assisting students with eating, toileting, and personal hygiene
Aid in occupational and physical therapy for students, ensuring a healthy and safe environment
Clean and sanitize toys, mats, and tables, documenting any student-related incidents or injuries
Perform related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to adapt to changing circumstances

Essential Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent
Fingerprint clearance is required
One (1) year of childcare or classroom experience and one (1) year of working with students with special needs, or an equivalent combination of training and experience
Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District
Depending on the needs of the District, some incumbents in this class must be able to demonstrate fluency in both Spanish and English as a condition of employment

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with students with special needs, including those with developmental, physical, and mental delays and disorders
Knowledge of special education or special needs accommodations, including AVID strategies
Skill in utilizing sensory equipment, and in monitoring and assisting students
Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, teachers, and staff members

Skills and Competencies

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and staff members
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities
