The Role: Legal Intern, Privacy - Spring Semester
We're looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Intern to join our Privacy Legal team for the Spring Semester (January - May). As a part-time intern, you'll work no more than 19 hours a week, contributing to challenging projects and gaining practical experience in privacy law. This is a unique opportunity to work with an in-house specialized privacy legal team, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and make a real impact on our product and business.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with team members to achieve project milestones and provide project updates to the Legal team and other stakeholders
- Proactively seek and provide feedback throughout the internship to ensure continuous growth and improvement
- Actively participate in and contribute to the Legal and broader Airbnb community, fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging
- Conduct research on new privacy laws and regulations, review draft privacy agreements, and support implementing new privacy law requirements
- Interact with global Legal counterparts, engineers, and the Privacy operations team while working on cutting-edge legal issues

Compensation and Benefits:
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, including:
- Competitive hourly rate of $48 per hour

Requirements and Qualifications
Essential Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled full-time at a nationally-accredited law school (2L or 3L)
- At least one of the following: completed privacy coursework, earned a CIPP certification, or have previous experience within the privacy space
- Strong interest in learning about in-house legal practice, specifically in privacy law
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, detail-oriented, and organized
- Comfortable reaching out and initiating communication with various team members
- Strong interpersonal skills and interest in building relationships and collaborating with teams within and outside of Legal
- Adaptable and able to adjust plans and manage changes effectively
- Able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to review and distill information from multiple sources into concise and pertinent legal memoranda
- Work authorization for employment in the United States is required (CPT/OPT is accepted)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a legal or privacy-related field
- Familiarity with U.S. state and federal privacy laws, the EU's GDPR, and Brazil's LGPD
- Experience working with global teams and collaborating with stakeholders across different time zones
