About the position
The Senior Manager, Facilities & IT at the University of Chicago is responsible for overseeing all facilities and classroom operations for the MS in Applied Data Science program. This role involves managing day-to-day facilities management needs, supporting in-person and hybrid courses, and leading a team of operations staff to ensure high-quality service delivery to students, faculty, and staff. The position requires strategic oversight of classroom operations, event planning, and resource allocation to support the program's academic goals.
Responsibilities
• Evaluate and review operating practices for effectiveness and efficiency, recommending changes as needed.
• Compile reports and conduct administrative functions supporting facilities management.
• Maintain inventory and track classroom office supplies and equipment.
• Submit work orders and manage recurring payments in coordination with NBC Tower management.
• Manage access for temporary guests and permanent staff or students to the building.
• Procure supplies and equipment for classrooms and events.
• Ensure operations staff provide high-level client services to University stakeholders.
• Manage professional and hourly staff, allocating resources and assessing policies.
• Set performance goals and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
• Schedule staff to ensure on-site coverage of classroom facilities year-round.
• Assist in planning and executing in-person, hybrid, and virtual events with minimal oversight.
• Maintain internal and external event calendars.
• Assist with planning classroom space allocation for courses each quarter.
• Collaborate with Operations Coordinators to manage scheduling and execution of non-course events.
Requirements
• Proven experience in facilities management or operations management.
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing teams.
• Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work independently and with minimal guidance.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Experience in event planning and execution.
