We are developing an advanced hardware + sensor + automation system for real-time analysis of mud returns on oil & gas rigs.
We are looking for a technical project manager with a mechanical or industrial engineering background to design and set up a complete project management system (Jira, Monday.com, or similar) that will be used to manage the full hardware development lifecycle.
This role is not administrative — it requires strong engineering intuition and experience managing complex physical systems (mechanical assemblies, sensors, electronics, manufacturing, testing, field deployment).
Scope of Work
You will design and implement a structured project management environment that includes:
1. Project Structure & Board Design
Define project hierarchy (systems → subsystems → components)
Build Jira or Monday boards for:
Mechanical design
Electronics & sensors
Enclosures & environmental protection
Manufacturing & suppliers
Assembly & integration
Testing & validation
Field deployment (rig environment)
2. Task & Workflow Definition
Break down the SCA-Rig into engineering-level tasks
Define:
Epics, stories, tasks
Dependencies and critical paths
Engineering milestones (PDR, CDR, prototype, pilot)
Create clear workflows (To-Do → In Progress → Review → Blocked → Done)
3. Engineering-Focused Management Setup
Define deliverables tied to:
CAD readiness
BOM freeze
Supplier readiness
Assembly & test readiness
Set up:
Version control logic
Design review gates
Risk & issue tracking (engineering risks, not just admin issues)
4. Documentation & Handover
Provide:
Clean board templates
Naming conventions
Short user guide on how the system should be used
Ensure the system is scalable as the team grows
Required Background
Mandatory
Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering degree
Experience managing hardware development projects
Strong experience with Jira, Monday.com, or similar tools
Ability to think in systems, interfaces, and dependencies
Highly Preferred
Experience with:
Industrial equipment
Oil & gas, energy, mining, or heavy machinery
Sensors, lab instruments, or automated systems
Experience managing:
Prototypes → pilot → field deployment
Familiarity with manufacturing workflows and suppliers
What We Are NOT Looking For
General virtual assistants
Pure software project managers with no hardware background
Scrum masters with no understanding of physical systems
Engagement Details
Type: Short-term setup project (with potential long-term collaboration)
Time Commitment: 20–40 hours total for initial setup
Start: Immediate
Budget: Open – based on experience
